Boyd of near Round Hill, her son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. George Frye of Hamilton, Va. Mr. and Mrs. Swartz of Leetow,n Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bush of Charles Town were callers Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Josh ua Clipp who resides with Mr. and Mrs. Howard O. Bush of Avon Dale Farm. Miss Marie Penwell spent Sun-. day with her grandmother Mrs. Elsie Dodson of Charles Town. Friends are sorry to hear of the i!,ness of Mrs. Gilbert Cadwalder of near Boyce, Va. She is a pa- tient in the Memorial Hospital, Winchester, Va. Her daughter, Mrs. Oral B. Hughes visited with her Sunday afternoon. Elmer Lee Roderick student of W. Va. University, Morgantown is home for the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. John Russell of near Charles Town visited with their daughter Mr. and Mrs. Rob- ert Sowers. Su,nday afternoon was the time set for a number of people to go for their Christmas trees. Quite a number passed through this vil lage. Some were hauled by trucks, some on top of the cars and some jutting out of the car trunks. The aluminum and other articifial trees may appeal to some but many folks still go far and near to get t'he old fashioned pine or cedar. This going after the tree is one of the happy customs of the Christmas tide. Brig. Ge,neral John N. Andrews of Arlington, Va. who owns Avon Wood Dairy Farm has added an Improvement to his dairy barn. Tom Henry, contractor poured 35 yards of cement furnished by Thorn Lumber Company, Martins burg who trucked 7 loads of the mixture. Mr. and Mrs. Pete Lowe of Ar- lington, Va. accorrrpanied by Mrs. Ray McGu',nn and children of Berryville and Mr. and Mrs. Geo- rge Smallw0od of Boyce, Vs. were visitors on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Clipp. Miss Helen Hawkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Hawkins ,of the Fairmount Church Com- munity became the bride of Mr. Boyd Lee Brown, son of Mrs. Geo rge Brown and the late Fenton Brow,n. The ceremony was per- formed Friday, Dec. 18 in Fred crick, Md. They will reside with his mother. Mrs. Thomas Mercer received word this past week that her sis- ter-in-law Mrs. Joshua Mercer of near Bluemont, Va. suffered a hear.t attack last Tuesday, Dec- ember 15. Heidrich was hostess to the Kabletown Farm Womans Club last Thursday when their annual Christmas par ty was held. The after,qoon was a very enjoyable one. Mrs. Charles R. Langclon was in charge of the program which revealed many family Christmas traditions as re called by members present. Mrs. John Moulton gave one of her in~ereslinf; readings. Delicious re- freshments were served following the exchange of gifts at the same time revealing the secret pals ol the past year. New pals were ehos c,q for the next year.
