I was at Jim and Em Locke's for a delicious turkey dinner Thanksgiving Day. The weekend of November 18, Kathy and Wes Dilley, Shepherdstown, took Nabe and Dot Blue to White Sulphur Springs to spend the night at the Greenbrier Hotel. It rained most of the time, but they report a satisfactory visit. Children's Christmas program prac- tice will be held December 3, at 6:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church. The Christmas cantata will be given December 18 at the regular service and the Christmas dinner will be December 18, 4 p.m. Santa Claus will come following the meal. Mrs. Janet G. Stephens has taught music in Jefferson County for 20 years. She has taught at Charles Town, Kabletown, Rippon, Millville, old C.W. Shipley and South Jefferson. Mrs. Stephens has taught at North Jeffer- son since 1971. She lives in Mar- tinsburg with her husband, Buddy, and son, Brent, who is nine years old. Mrs. Stephens has conducted various pro- grams while at North Jefferson, in- cluding Christmas and spring pro-" grams. She also organized the fifth and sixth grade choruses where the students audition for membership selection. Mrs. Stephens was North Jefferson's teacher of the year in 1986. GAST HEADMASTER FOR NEW SCHOOL YEAR Thomas H. Gast has been appointed headmaster of the Country Day School of Jefferson County for the 1989-90 academic year. The action was taken last Monday November 14) by the Board of Directors of the school. Board President Garrison Ellis said of the action."The decision of the board was both unanimous and enthusiastic." Gast succeeded James L. Statler as headmaster of Country Day School last June. He holds a nfamber of degrees, joined the faculty in September 1984, and has taught Latin, history and English at the facility. We're thankful for Janet's dedication and excellent instruction in music. Mrs. Judith A. Chesley teaches art at North Jefferson. She teaches K-6 grades at North and South Jefferson. She has also taught at Orange, Conn., and Northwood, Ohio, for a total of ten years. Mrs. Chesley holds an art show each spring at the school. She also spends a lot of time helping teachers with special projects in their classroom. Mrs. Chesley lives in Charles Town with husband, William, and sons, Christopher, who is 21, and Craig, 18.
