Va. wish to an nounce the engagement of the,Jr daughter, Dixie Sharon to Mr. Robert Lee Ruby. son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Ruby of Sharps- burg, Md. Miss Dunn is a graduate of Charles Town High School and is L now a senior at Shepherd College. 6he is employed on week-e,uds at les Town Road. They were former ly from here. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Puckett of Sanford, N. C. are visiting with Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Cullers, 425 South Mildred St. Mr. and ,Mrs. Shirley Knott Al- ger, Raltimore, Md. are the proud parents of another baby girl. This makes their second daughter. She was born on Sl~nday, October 4 at 2:17 and Mrs. Kenna Alger re- ceived the glad message at 2:20. Dr. and Mrs. Donald K. Mcln- tyro 'have been attending the For- eign Service Institute in Arling- ton, Va. for t:he past two weks. They will complete their studies t~here on October 9. On Mo:.iday, October 12 accompanied by the~: three daughters they will fly to Los Angeles, California by Jet Air liner from Baltimore, Md. From Los Angeles they will fly to Hon- olulu, Tokyo and Manilla enroute to their new home in Saigon, Viet Nam, where they will reside lot the nex, t two years. While in Sai- gon, Dr. McIntyre will serve a~ Embassy Physicia,rl for the Depart ment of State. Mrs. Jack lowell and Mrs. Charles W. Appeil spent Sunday evening with Mrs. Annie Nelson of Knoxville. Md. Smallwood, dau- ghter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Smallwood, Jefferson Avenue is ~tending the (Maryland Medical Secretarial S~hool in Hagerstown. Md. October Meeting U. D. C. Chapter October 13th The October meeting of the Lawson Botts Chapter U. D, C. will be held on Tuesday afternoon October 13 at 3:00 p. m. a the home of Mrs. John L. Burns and Mrs. Harry Pus~ter. Mrs. J~ames C. Snyder of Summit Poin,t will be ,the guest speaker. Tickets are now being sold by members of t,he Cardette Club. The drive to raise the funds ne cessary to purchase the police cruiser was started about a mon- th ago by Ranson citizen's and to date about $600 has bee,.'] donated through volunteer contributAons. The town of Ranson now has a full time policeman, but has no police car. For the time being Lewis ~Buzzy~ Carroll, Jr. who took over as Ranson's po~liceman on Sept. 9 is using his own private automobile in the performance of his police duties.
