Salary Land Development Jefferson County, West Virginia Department of Planning, Zoning and Engineering is accepting applications for the position of Land Development Inspector. Responsibilities include inspection of residential subdivision and com- mercial site development projects for compli- ance with Jefferson County standards for sedi- ment and erosion control, storm water manage- ment & storm drainage systems, roadways, landscaping, site grading, etc. Will also review construction bond release requests and conduct final inspections to verity that all site work is complete prior to release of the construction bond. May also be involved in review and approval of construction cost estimates for bond security and prepare revisions to site devel- opment details and standards. Must demonstrate ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications and have sufficient knowledge of terminology and con- struction methods of all aspects of residential and commercial land development projects. Must have good written communication, record keeping, and time management skills. Must have excellent judgment and decision making abilities; ability to enforce the requirements of the plans and specifications and follow estab- lished standards; and ability to communicate with people with diverse backgrounds and levels of education. Also must be able to work inde- pendently with minimum supervision. Position requires physical ability to climb ladders and to maneuver over varying terrain, across ditches and through wooded areas to gain access to parts of construction sites to inspect work. Also will need to take measurements, document stages of construction with pho- tographs, and write field inspection reports. Must be able to use computer and software to generate letters, maintain records, and schedule inspections. Prefer applicants with an Associates Degree in Civil Engineering Technology and a minimum of two years engineedng technician expedence related to land development projects. Experience with AutoCAD drafting is a plus. Applicants with an equal combination of expe- rience and education are encouraged to apply. A valid driver's Ik;ense is required.
