s SPIRIT OF JEFFERSON Farmer's ADVOCATE THURSDAY, JUNE 29, 1978 Chades Town High Graduating Class 1938 Has Reunion The 1938 graduating class of Charles Town High School en- joyed another get together for their 40th reunion on Saturday, June 24, at Hilltop House in Harpers Ferry. The affair began with a social hour served in the ballroom downstairs at Hilltop from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. After which classmates, their spouses and friends gathered for the buffet I II I I dinner. Saul Viener remembered those who had passed on, namely Edith Hindman Hovatter, Betty Brown Hazen, Charles Milton, and Sherman League. And one of the last matters handled was the vote to hold another reunion in five years. Penney And Huffy Recall 54,000 Bicycles With Defectiive Cranks Huffy Corporation, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, has announced a voluntary recall of certain 24, 26, and 27-inch, 10-speed bicycles that may have a defective pedal crank. The recall involves 54,000 bicycles sold between March 1977, and May 25, 1978, under the brand names Huffy, J. C. Penney, Omega, and Coast King. The crank is part of a new front freewheeling system that permits the shifting of gears without pedalling. Once the gears are shifted and the rider begins pedalling, substantial pressure is absorbed at the shoulder of the crank. If the bieycle contains a defective crank, the crank shoulder may likely break with possible loss of bicycle control and injury to the rider. The defective pedal crank Jackson. The finish is smooth and polished. Owners of these bicycles should contact the retailer, from which they purchased the bicycle, or the nearest Huffy dealer. If this is not feasible, they should write to Huffy Bike Customer.Service Department, P.O. Box 1204, Dayton, Ohio. William W. Staylor, Jr., manager of the J. C. Penney store, advises that only J. C. Penney model numbers 2131, 2141, 2180, 2380, and 2381 may have the defective crank. The model number is found on the left metal tee plate outside the rear wheel. Hoffmaster of 60C Jefferson Avenue, Charles Town, has been specially identified for early promotion senior airman in the U.S. Air Force. Airman Hoffmaster was awarded the new rating by a "below-the-zone" prootion board which considered job performance, military knowledge, bearing and self improvement efforts. MULLINIX RICHMOND, VA. -- In a major reorganization of senior management responsibilities, Southern States Cooperative has promoted Paul E Mullinix, a 42- year employee to the new )osition of group vice-president -- operations services.
