PAGE A4 Wednesday, June 13, 2018 NEWS SPIRIT of .JEFFERSON and I M{MEt{'S ADVOCATE ed in crash " helmet CHARLES TOWN - Officials with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department say the 29-year-old killed Sunday evening in a dirt bike crash was wearing a helmet when he was thrown from his vehicle. Charles Town resident Garrett W. Eberhardt was pronounced dead at the intersection of Marlowe Road and Don Quixote Drive not far from U.S. 340, Tractor Supply and Sheetz. No other vehicles were involved in the accident, according to Deborah Lowe, a spokeswoman with the Sheriff's Office. Garrett Eberhardt Lowe said the investigating officers were off duty and unavailable to comment on the accident until today. The accident happened as Eberhardt was riding a Yamaha dirt bike northbound on Marlowe Road when it left the road- way around 7:15 p.m according to the Sheriff's Office. A news release from the Sheriff's Office said EMS person- nel were attending to Eberhardt when officers arrived and that one of his family members also was on the scene. An accident reconstruction expert responded to the crash, but no findings have been made public.
