Young people had the opportunity to promote the animals they will show at this year's Jefferson County Fair during Expo 2013, the fair's 31st an- nual livestock exposition, which took place Saturday at the fairgrounds. The show, which helps kick off fair season, featured exhibitions of dairy and beef cattle, goats, sheep and rabbits, as well as a horse show and rabbit workshop. This year's fair happens Aug. 18-24 at the 85-acre fairgrounds in 'Kear- neysville. The event dates to 1953 and a two-day fair with poultry and pure- bred livestock displays, a horseshoe pitching competition, square dancing, a homemade pie showdown and more - plus entertainment that included a perfortnance by Patsy Cline, the future Country Music Hall of Famer who'd just turned 21 and newly signed to her first recording contract.
