]4 SPIRIT Of JEFFERSON Farmer's ADVOCATE THURSDAY, MAY 9, 1974 Seven Highway Accidents In County; One Hurt A series of seven motoring accidents occurred on Jeffer- son County ,highways and one in Charles Town during ,the period of Friday, April 26 ,and Tuesday morning April 30, which resulted in an estimated ,total of about $6,000 in prop- erty damage. Only one :person sustained injuries in the acci. dents, however, and ,they ,were not serious. The personal injury accident any of ,the accidents occurred in a two-oar crash about 7:15 April 26 on the Mission Road in ,the Moun, tain Sotth of Charles Town. Sta,te Police said a car being driven by Fred P. Dorie, of Route 2, Harpers Ferry, a,t- tevn ped to pass aogher car being operated by John K. Bus,h, Route 3, Harpers Ferry and the Dorie vehicle struck a dirt embanlrmes% swerved back ino the Bush car, then ran up an embankmem ad struck a ,tree. Damage to ,the Dorie car was placed at $2,500 wi,th another $100 loss to ,the Bush car. Dorie was cited for failure to rnainin control. At 2:30 a. m. April 26 a single car accident occurred on State Rotrte 51, at te entrance of Harewood Avenue which re- sul.ted in $7.00 property dam- ages. Police said a car operated by Michael K. Mason, af Route 1, Kearneysville, was a.ttemptig to make a left turn and went ot of control. I,t struck .three road signs, sideswiped a tKilRy pole and went throug a fence.
