Shores CanSdate For State Senate Howard P. Shores Keyser at- torney, is seeking the Democratic nomination for State Senator (un- expired term) from the 16th Sen- atorial District in the May 10 Pri mary Election. A native of Keyser he was born August 12, 1918, and has resided most of his life in Keyser. He is .the son of Attorney and Mrs. H. G. Shores, also of Keyser. Mr. Shores was graduated from Keyser High School in May 1936 and entered West Virginia Uni- versity at Morgantown, being gra nted his A. B. degree in 1940 and L. L. B. degree in 1942. He was married to the former Yvonne Mitchell of Morgantown Jan. 31, 1942, and they are the parents of two children, Howard P. Shores II, student at Potomac State College, and John Patterson Shores, student at Keyser High School. Immediately upon graduation from WVU, he entered the U. S. Navy and served for a period of four years. He remains active with the Naval Reserve and presently holds the rank of Lieutenant Corn mander with the Mobilization Team t-2 in Cumberland and in March spent two weeks active duty on the USS LaSalle, APD 3. Since 1946 he has practiced law as a trial lawyer in Keyser with his father. He is a Past Master of Davis Lodge 51, AF&AM, is a Scottish Rite Mason, holding the 32nd De- gree and a member of the Shrine. Mr. Shores is a Past Commander of Queens Point Memorial Post VFW, member of the American Legion here and of the Loyal Order of Moose. He is a past pres ident of the Mineral County Bar Association, member of Keyser Presbyterian Church and of Key- ser Rotary Club. He is a past Scoutmaster of the Presbyterian Troop and attained the rank of Eagle while in Scouting.
