CAMPAIGN FINANCE REPORTS AVAILABLE ON INTERNET For the first time, anyone with access to the Internet may view campaign finance information for candidates who ~le reports with the Secretary of State Formerly, those who wanted to send reports had to come to the Secretary of State's office or order photocopies. "This helps to open up the po- litical process to the public and press alike," said Secretary of State Ken Hechler. "Distance, money, and time are no longer bar- riers to those who want to learn more about candidates for public office in West Virginia. With a few computer keystrokes, anyone can gain access to this information." Campaign finance information for candidates is available begin- ning with this year's primary elec- tion. Reports from previous elec- tions are available to be viewed at the Secretary of State's office. Those who file reports with the Secretary of State are candidates for statewide office, State.Senate, House of Delegates, multi-county judicial office, and Greater Hun- tington Park and Recreation Board. To view campaign finance infor- mation, go to the Secretary of State's website at]sos. Viewers can select candidates' reports by office and district, name, and amount spent. The deadline for the first filing period ended April 10. The next fil- ing period will be April 29 through May 1. The last reporting period for the primary election is June 3 through 8. The complete candidate and political committee reporting schedule is also available on the webpage.
