There is a maximum assistance amount of $250 per household. Funds may cover emergency items such as blankets, clothes, wood, fuel oil, nutrition, emergency repairs (if the housing is otherwise unfit for habitation), as well as payment of fuel bills. Only outstanding fuel bills may be paid- no future payments will be allowed. The goal of the program is to eliminate the financial hardship of unusually high home heating costs due to the harsh winter imposed on low and fixed income West Virginian's who can least absorb it in their budgets. Only applications taken before May 1, 1978 will be eligible for assistance. The Voyages of Doctor Dolittie, a 50 minute story, is scheduled for April 22 at 2:00 in the auditorium. There is no charge and all are welcome. Mrs. Moler and her Mother Goose Nursery enjoyed a story last week and have scheduled three more sessions before school closes. One of the 6th grade classes from Wright Denny School had a library lesson on the card catalog. The students came all prepared and seemed to enjoy their assign- ment. Some of thechildren became new members of the library and books were checked out to all those who brought their library cards. Special Education students from Ranson Elementary are expected next week. Firmen's Luncheon Added To Blossom Festival Events At a recent meeting of the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Firemen's Parade Committee, it was decided that there would he a Firemen's Luncheon held on May 5th, 11:45 a.m. at the War Memorial Bldg., E. Cork Street according to Firemen's Parade Director Dave Smith. The South End Ladies Auxiliary will be preparing the lunch and tickets may he pur- chased directly from them at $3.00 per person. On the menu will be baked ham, potato salad, turkeycole slaw, fruit cup, sliced cake, coffee or tea. There will be limited tickets because of seating capacity and all Firemen, friends of Firemen, Ladies Auxiliaries and Honorary Fire Chiefs are urged to attend.
