UMEI~ SPIRIT OF JEFFERSON Farmer's ADVOCATE - Thursday, April 14, 2005 5 Local Artist's Work Honored Charles Town artist Katherine Zinner Cimaglio has been hon- ored by the State Arboretum of Virginia with her painting "The Wil- liamsburg Canadians," selected as the cover art for the upcoming art show, "Equine Art at Blandy." The show will be held April 17- May 31, at the State Arboretum of Virginia, Blandy Experimental Farm, Boyce, Va and will be held in conjunction with the Spring Trail Ride. Cimaglio works in acrylic on canvas using layers and glazing to enrich the depth of her work. Sound and movement are essential to her paintings. The captured moment of sound-of a cow grazing, a horse shifting a foot are subtle elements and trademarks of her work. Says Cimaglio, "Art has been a gift to me, so I want people to see into my paintings rather than look at them to sense my enthu- siasm and, often, the humor of my work. I believe that art should leave the viewer refreshed and renewed. If my work evokes a smile then I have succeeded as an artist."
