Good butcher steers, $44 to $48; plain to medium steers, $36 to $43; good butcher heifers, $38 P "GENE" E. PERKINS Candidate For County Commissioner Kabletewn Distdct Industrial Authority: Jedico has taken the first steps toward an industrial authority. It is my opinion that the County Commission should become involved in this project and assist Jedico into becoming the Jefferson County industrial authority. Horse Industry: I see Shenandoah Downs and Charles Town as a horse racing industry in total. It is my opinion that the people of Jefferson County should have the right to referendum for Sunday racing. It is also my opinion that this is one of the vital in- dustries in Jefferson County, and I feel that in order to treat it as such the people of Jefferson County should be made aware of the fact that the horse racing industry provides the county citizens with employment that exceeds $33,000 a day. Sheriff's Department: I feel the Sheriff's Department is understaffed and is unable to carry out their duties in the field of police protection to the maximum. I also feel that the Sheriff's Department should be in- creased by six deputy sheriff's, three new cruisers, plus two additional cruisers to replace the two that are in poor working order. Licenses for the Trade Industry: It is my opinion that we need to license the quality carpenters, plumbers, electricians, masons, concrete workers and sewage disposal installation contractors in Jefferson County. This would insure quality workmanship within the county and give recourse if quality work- manship was not maintained. Pal. Ad Authorized by Candidate April 13-1t FOR SALE RANSON -- 103 14th Avenue.
