SPIRIT OF JEFFERSON Farmer's ADVOCATE 15 THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 1978 FROM "THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK" OPENED TODAY AT OLD OPERA HOUSE McAlister as Anne with Norman Snyder Bennett in "The Diary of Anne Frank" Opens today at the Old Opera House for s only. important meeting and all 22 members are urged to attend. Hospital ..... Wednesday, Farmers ask President for 2 p.m., in the I foreclosure moratorium. is a very '"The Diary Of Anne Frank" Opens Opera House Tonight The play that Life Magazine called "the most moving to emergy from World War II", "The Diary of Anne Frank", will be presented at the Old Opera House Theatre February 16 through 19. This notable drama ran for 90 weeks when it was first presented in New York and it won every possible honor of the i time, including the Pulitzer Prize and the New York Drama Critics' Award as the best play of 1955-56, and it has sub- sequently been enthusiastically applauded in 19 foreign coun- tries from Norway to South Mrica, from Japan to Germany. In its recreation of the day by day life of these people, filled with not only suspense, but also tenderness, courage, hope and humor, "The Diary of Anne Frank" has everywhere been found to be a play of inspiring optimism, a play for all the family to see. Ferdinand Perrone will have the starring role of Otto Frank, the wise, strong head of the family, who, with no heroics, organizes and sustains the refugee colony in their hide-out, and Dana McAlister will be seen as his daughter, the blithe and bumptious Anne. Chris Perrone will have the role of Anne's unassertive mother, Trayce Young will portray Anne's placid older sister. Rosa Lee will be seen as the frivolous mother of the other family sharing the refuge, Kenneth Haag as her grouchy, greedy husband, Norman Snyder as their shy son with whom Anne falls in love. Bob Nennett will enact the eighth membeFof the hide-out colony, an amusingly crotchety dentist. Catherine and Mark Dailey will be seen as two sympathetic Gentiles who help the beleaguered Jewish refugees with food and other necessities. The unabridged play that is being presented here, exactly as it was acted during the 90-week run in New York, was adapted from the original Anne Frank diary by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett. Tickets are $3.50 and $2.50. Make your reser- vations, now by calling the Opera House.
