"I want people to slow down, destress and practice mindful- ness," explains Dunn, who has operated The Vintage Lady for more than 14 years. She and her husband, Billy Ray Dunn, lead the business along with longtime store manag- er Crystal Grimsley. "Create a spot in your house where you can go to calm down," Dunn suggests. "Come into the shop once a week to see what you can place in that spot." One tried-and-true stress re- liever: Candles from Creekside Candles in Martinsburg. Books are another. "As much as I love my iPad, books are far more re- laxing," she said. "We carry many books on Harpers Ferry. So many people in the area don't know what's right here in their own backyard." Another way to relax is with a glass of wine. The Vintage Lady carries a variety of West Virgin- ia wines and other drinks such as Honey Mead wine from Hawk KnOb Cider and Mead in Lewis- burg and Caramel Apple Hard Ci- der from Swilled Dog in Franklin. Dunn and Grims- ley hand- craft the majority of jewel- ry sold at The Vintage Lady. Popular items include ear- rings, tings and necklaces that fea- ture the Tree of Life.
